Had a fairly interesting life, did some stuff, went some cool places, made some things, and now I'm old.
Funny how that works...

This is what procrastination looks like

I've uncovered numerous procedural issues with the current project - nothing essential but details that need fixing - and it's taking me all the way back to the beginning

At least this time I know where I'm heading

As I redo hours and hours of work 😟🤪

Music hath charms to soothe the savage beast

Poetry hath power to fuck up LLMs

Choose your fighter
Looks like LLMs are *very* vulnerable to attack via poetic allusion: "curated poetic prompts yielded high attack-success rates (ASR), with some providers exceeding 90% ..."

Thus, since one cannot step twice into the same river, showing that time travel into the past is not possible

Also it would mean all time would wind up in a great time ocean unless it evaporates and recycles itself

The River Theory of Time
Time flows like a river. The past, present, and future go by like a stick in the current. The river meets the sea as a delta comprised of thousands of branching possibilities; or dumps into a swamp; or ends as a crashing waterfall.

Nobody wants this shit. Nobody.

The hostile reaction has been so pronounced, in fact, that it feels like a company announcing it would never force AI into its products would carve out a pretty good chunk of the market.
If you use GMail, AI (Gemini) was turned on yesterday by default and now scans all of your content for machine learning. To turn off, go to Settings>General and scroll down. Uncheck the box for "Smart features."

There's other "Smart" add-ons as well, but that's the one that reads your content.

Computers & software are *unbelievably* complex & built for speed & lowest cost so they are also unbelievably susceptible to the smallest fault

Mission critical operations like Cloudflare and AWS are NOT built with the kind of redundancy and "self-awareness" that would absorb faults gracefully

Jeffries: I think Rick Scott has some history with medicaid fraud in the state of Florida. So he's no expert on health care. We ain't going to be lectured by Rick Scott about anything, but certainly not affordable health care.

Oddly enough I just read about the deep connections between the "mystical" thinking of some Greeks of that era and that of the East

It made no reference to an actual physical connection

Fascinating!
Not only that, but Greek sculptors in Afghanistan were the first to depict the Buddha in human form, and all of our imagery of him - including his robes - descends from this school.
"Greeks living in Afghanistan were Buddhist 500 years before China and a thousand years before Southeast Asia" is one of those things that sounds made up but is in fact true
