I saw one of the weirdest gaming takes online today.
Some guy was proud of the fact that he only lets his kids play Ps1 and genesis because that's all he had growing up.
What a dick
assuming that financial circumstances aren't the reason why, this guy is just a totally weird gatekeeper.

My grocery store has a tiny little toy section with very safe bets: Barbie, hot wheels, and Lego city are the usual suspects.
But very rarely, something so sick yet random will show up
Today?
They had a tiny little Rhinobot from sonic the hedgehog. Easy purchase. His little wheel even spins!

Imposing real world history on to the Pokémon universe is so funny dude.
WW2?
Imagine scrambling for coverage as you storm Omaha beach. The odds seem insurmountable. You look to your left for covering fire, but pvt. Johnson has already been wounded.
Luckily, to your right is Lt. Electabuzz.

lol imagine this with another medium, like movies.
It's the early 50s, and little Jimmy is only allowed to watch silent film, because that's what his father grew up with.
"No son of mine is going to one of those talkies! Ugh...and the colors? The horrible colors! This is a CHAPLIN household!"

Sharing your childhood video games with your children is absolutely great.
What's not great? getting bullied for not playing Fortnite because your dad has some weird vendetta against the passage of time and technology

And the strangest part? Like 5-6 people upvoted it. Like as if they agreed with it?
Yeah, it was Reddit lol
It's in the comments of one of the many gaming or retro gaming subs that I scroll through. 98% percent sure it wasn't one of those ironic jerk subs, either.
People are weird, man

The funny thing about Pac-Man is that I've always associated him with running and chasing but I would never say I've thought of him as fast.
It's kind of endearing to think that our friends brisk pace is more than enough to keep ghosts away. All he needs is a jog and and a few power pellets.

The shot in the arm that the ageing Game Boy needed as the late 90s dawned: Pokémon!
Nintendo Power added fuel to the hype machine as it makes its way outside Japan in its May 1998 issue.

Amiibo were like $14 when they came out. Now, they are going for $40.
The mega yarn yoshi was $40 when it came out in 2015, how much do you think it would be sold at retail for in 2025?
Honestly? I think they'd try $75 and or require an NSO subscription to purchase

It warms my heart to think that a decent amount of young folks are getting introduced to the Simpsons for the first time now that they are in Fortnite.
I hope it gets "rediscovered" by an audience that otherwise would have disregarded it as a lame thing that their dad watched when he was younger.

Hey, is there any nugget of Street Fighter media that shows just how Guile styles his hair every day?
Maybe a comic panel or a throwaway animated scene?
I have never really questioned the logistics of his hair before, I've just accepted it as an absurd video game thing.
But what is bro doing?

I'm a big fan of retail environmental storytelling. You know, like when someone made a clear choice to abandon one item from a different part of the store in favor of another.
Someone made the wrong choice here. The halloween figure is way cooler than the prolapsed booty-hole demogorgon plush

I assumed he was exaggerating to be funny but, I did the math...yeah ouch🕹️🎮

Wait can someone tell me why Homer looks normal in Fortnite but Peter Griffins model had to be made in to sexy Peter?
I heard there was some tech nonsense explanation but Homer and Peter are built the same.

Oh and for what it's worth, my brother (the father to be) is the sole reason I got in to retro gaming and collecting in the first place. We technically still share a collection to this day.
So I'm hoping that between the both of us, video games will be picked up.
Are hobbies hereditary?

Hey, gaming folks with little kids in their lives:
when can they start playing?
What do you start them with?
What was it like for you?
Long story short, I'm going to be an uncle for the first time and I've been designated as "Funcle"
naturally, I'm VERY eager to get the lil fella playing
