The more I look at the prep and legal reasoning behind invading LA, the more it looks like that the administration wants to seize supreme authoritarian power over the corpse of the republic through force of arms but also doesn’t want to do any actual work to do so. Rather surreal.

people also underrate the fact that Trump is very old, does not have a successor, and does not have any means of naming a successor. this does not mean that he will die soon, but that everyone around him must understand that he might.
The Trump Administration is trying to forge a personalist authoritarian regime and honestly the conditions for success are there. However, they're *way* out over their skis at the moment. Their pure recklessness is making their path to success way harder 1/x

With the exact House majority determined, a part of thinks this might be a best case scenario. Small enough that nothing gets done, but a majority nonetheless so that Reps (hopefully) are blamed for whatever happens/doesn't happen

I think as a rule of thumb: If politics junkies on here aren't sick to death of hearing your explanation/slogan and don't think it's dumbed down to the point of parody as well, then it's penetration in the general population is approximately zero.
