a band i used to like is playing a concert to commemorate a terrorist attack i survived. at the time we advocated for peace and justice. that band and that event today pushed propaganda in favor of imperial terror. it made me sad. i am sad.

i feel challenged today. my friend is going through something that i both feel deeply familiar with from an experience i had 18 years ago, and at the same time foreign since it's not exactly the same. i find myself reflecting on what i needed then and pondering if i'm not jut taking a cop out.

No. Alot of what he is doing is very real and he DOES have the power to do.
But he is testing to see which laws hold, which dont. Who is gonna pushback. Who isnt.
And encouraging the rest of us and his minions to behave as he does.

This is a common issue, unfortunately.
A big problem is that once you question some of these rescue orgs, you're immediately painted as being pro pedophile, pro sex trafficking, etc.
Shutting down criticism before it really gets started opens doors for misinformation & grifters.

there's an ongoing moral panic about sex trafficking that basically helps right wing grifters do their grift. i'm definitely not the right person to speak on the totality of this, but i want to help add context to people new to this moral panic in this thread understand what's going on

The people following SWOP already understand the context, Qanon & the other right wing grifters very obviously leave out facts in these panics. Facts like US victims of trafficking are often being victimized by their own family, close friends & community leaders (think pastors)

Following today’s protest, unknown individuals forced two participants into a car and abducted them. The cars had unusual Georgian license plates.
A friend of one of the abductees, Rati Tkemaladze, claims that he was taken by the State Security Service. His current whereabouts are still unknown.

there's pro russian (lowercase intentional) street art in my community. it makes me lividly angry because it points to *exactly* how we got here. not enough people are aware or care what's occurring right in their local community. but i'll say this: i care. i'm aware. i'm going to push back
