Glad to know that the Friday the 13th tattoo I got 16 years ago now makes me eligible to be sent to El Salvador with no legal recourse.

Love this for us.
Not to be too doomy on this already bad day, but the desert southwest - esp. New Mexico - is going to have an awful fire year. Really, really grim snowpack info here.
(CA & OR will likely fare better, though wet springs can lead to a lot of vegetation in CA which dries out in the next fall/winter.)

Big Arrakis vibes at the office today.

Part of the gift of traveling in so much is that I get plenty of chances to compare life in the US to our neighbors.

The ADA and the infrastructure it provides is something we got right. And it’s something you don’t notice until it’s gone.

Maybe I wasn’t clear about this. I wanted more egg and no plane crash, not many plane crash and no egg.

As a Falcons fan who lived through 27-3, I will not relax until the Eagles are up by at least 45. #birdbros

Can we go back to when sports betting only meant “someone has to do something vaguely embarrassing if their team loses?”

Unintended consequence of being a father of two young kids- I am now addicted to Welch’s fruit snacks.

We will see this play run repeatedly by this administration.

1. Break the thing.
2. Make a big deal about the thing being broken.
3. “Fix” the thing in a way that is worse than before they broke it.
4. Take credit for the fix.

You can’t stop them from breaking it, but you can stop step 4.

Felt like a good day to rep La Sele. No particular reason.

My favorite line in scripture showed up in MP this morning- “Blessed be the Lord, for he has shown me the wonders of his love in a besieged city.”

The psalmist didn’t have to go so hard on that one, but I’m glad they did.

Sometimes we do get it spectacularly right.
Episcopalians are wild because they're a christian denomination that somehow seems to not have total contempt for the teachings of Christ

Another entry in the “things I want to do, but don’t have time or money for” file- to stream a playthrough of Cyberpunk 2077 where I go in depth on the theological and ethical themes in the plot.

Amazing idea? Or intolerable millennial priest nonsense?

Annual Muppet Christmas Carol watch time. I clearly remember when Scrooge seemed overwrought- surely no one that greedy actually existed. Oh blessed time.

Here’s this year’s province 5-6-7 transition report. My 6th year doing this and it seems like we’ve settled into an equilibrium.

The only thing I didn’t expect is that our small parishes are proving more resilient than anyone predicted 5 years ago. Instead of closing they’re moving to lay-led. ⚓️

One of those Sundays when the fact that my job is to drive across the most beautiful part of the country and help mission churches problem solve seems way too good to be true. ⚓️
