That said, we’re talking about church folk- and data security isn’t their forte.

I do also strongly agree that wider sentiment is that LLMs are more than what they are- unprecedented tools for language processing.

For a group of folks used to seeing text as sacred it’s a tricky combo.

To privacy- my understanding is that with a paid account (at least with Open AI) your input is in a walled garden limited to users linked to the same account.

Gotta keep data security best practices and all that, but if it’s minutes from a meeting that’s public anyway I don’t see the risk in that

Totally understand. They’re good questions.

I think the environmental impact projected is overstated, in that we’re seeing massive decrease in the processing power needed to run current models. We’re already dependent on electricity, cars and planes for church work, not sure LLM impact is worse.

I don’t know- I’ve found helpful use cases in a lot of administrative and background tasks. I’ll look at the survey to see the tone, but it’s become pretty invaluable for me in things like meeting notes/minutes, checklists, schedule creation.

Wouldn’t use it for much else at this point.

When we did put the Holy Family in a cage to protest family separation in Indy we had to shut down our voice mailbox and I had to block everyone but my select contacts for a while.

It was rough, but I’d do it again in a heartbeat.

This right here. PiC has authority over use of buildings. Vicars must defer to Bishop/Dio policy. But a Rector can move unilaterally
