Graphic designer, quilter, knitter, building lover, nerd. Chronic over-thinker. Constantly making something. Tired, and maybe a little bit hungry.
after that it's probably my 2020 mini-series quilt-a-long quilt, because rainbows and rae ritchie constellation fabric! or bear, made for friends' second child. It's hard to choose!!

So, probably my violetcraft giraffe abstraction I made for my mum when she was dying. It's been nine years next month and I can't bring myself to use it, but the last photo I ever took of her, she was napping under it. It was the first quilt I finished, second finished quilt top.

Peak normal stuff here; made myself a skirt that matches one of my cats. Both fabrics are Rae Ritchie for dear stella from now oop fabric lines.

it's one of the ruby star collections, brushed? which I think is oop? but it's in purple velvet, which is available in speckled for sure, and that's the same color. but it matched the cave dragon SO WELL. And it had brighter pink which matched pretty well one of the front prints.

An alternate layout looperette by miss make, although this is just the back, lol.

May I offer a three photo series of "squirrel vs orange cat"? Squirrel uses window ac bracket to climb to windowsill, but can't get into the window seed feeder because there's a small baffle on the window frame they can't climb around. Cat ruuuuuuuns across the house to confront squirrel on sill.

Corvids are great. I miss the blue jays of my childhood, but the western scrub jays are pretty excellent yard friends.

No tricks here, my best @bishma.bsky.social has a birthday today! Yesterday we took a jaunt over to the coast to visit a spot he first took me to very early in our relationship--more than 21 years ago. 🧡

Do I wish I had had a real camera for this photo? Yes, but I also feel like this crow is still maybe the best photo I've ever taken. (Nye Beach, Central Oregon coast.) They are A Mood.

Cut! Biffed up a few things (including the pattern matching because I forgot to rotate the pattern piece to book match the fabric) and because I was avoiding starching this in order to be able to wear it without washing it after it's sewn, so I used more fabric than the most economical cutting.

Bought, washed, and line dried this linen in July 2003. I'm finally getting around to cutting and sewing it into a skirt and it is so linty. Going to have to really brush the final skirt.

Magnolia season is short and glorious.

Our best most orange menace gremlin bébé Laszlo Cravensworth McKitten the Third is five today, according to his adoption papers. He's been part of our household less than a year, and it's hard to imagine our family without him now. He's the sweetest, dumbest best buddy who loves a snack and a snug.

The next block was a lot faster. Two 4" stretched geese laid butt to butt to make a diamond. 66 pieces goes a lot faster.
March 13, 2025 at 4:25 AM
The block as written (although trimmed differently.) I didn't aim to match the largest inscribed pentagon size; so it is smaller by the amount it required to make the bottom corners of the small pentagons meet around a pentagon of the same size. Geometry! Each outer edge is ~1/2” shorter (seams!)

My current quilt project. I have twelve blocks from the mini series qal in 2022 and I'm making more with the end result of a quilt. I adapted the Bloom block from that series to make each shape 1/5th of a larger pentagon. It took 250 pieces of fabric and roughly 14 hours to sew this 8” block.

Impossible to sum up how loved our BobCat was in just a few photos. He died a year ago and we miss him every damn day. He love sun puddles, demanded to sit in a chair next to me when I was quilting, always got his face RIGHT IN the litter box, and was my spouse's constant lap cat. Best void.

I made my sister a quilt for her wedding and I needed to randomize stripes of 20 colors, so I rolled a fistful of d20s to put them in order because I KNEW my brain would fall into patterns if I tried to do it manually. I happened to have a plethora available to me, but I could've done it with just 1

a two-for-one. One very large and beautiful cat using a much smaller and also beautiful cat as a begrudging pillow.
February 26, 2025 at 9:57 PM
Finished/gifted the first quilt of the year. @blanketstatement.bsky.social Star Lake in @rashidacolemanhale.bsky.social speckled and a Dear Stella print by Rae Ritchie. Mustard big stitch for the binding, straight line quilting in 40wt mustard thread, and a bit of hand quilting with copper metallic.

This cat has helped with a lot of quilts in the ten months he's been living with us. It's almost like he's made it his purpose in life. (He'll be 5 next month). Also, yes, his one eye is a little squinty. It seems he and the cat bed fell off the couch earlier and It'll be fine in a day or two.

Actively a menace. Zero fear of the running sewing machine. Will arrive silently out of nowhere (we considered trying to keep him off the table but it was a clearly losing proposition and it keeps him off the kitchen counters). Not pictured here, attacking my pencil, magnetic pin cushion as pillow.

Laszlo Cravensworth McKitten the Third looks like he's a little blockier (he was four before he was removed from an overcrowded home and neutered, so he's a big, dumb, tomcat sweet angel baby gremlin). Love an orange buddy!!

Having a break with my best zozo.

Currently not quilting because this gremlin wants me to hold him instead
