This is always how centrist critiques of the Left work, by avoiding substantive discussions of complex social issues in favour of abstract philosophical debates.
the idea is that moral clarity or certainty is somehow dangerous. of course, everyone who argues this is also morally certain, just about different things. this is just a way of devolving the debate into abstraction.

I think this is largely due to the right's success making 'political' a toxic term. 'Political' is a lot like 'elite' or 'politically correct,' terms only used in opposition and never self-applied. Hard to defend the necessity of doing politics when it's only something other people do!

This is clearly serious and scary but also just so sad. I continue to be amazed at how pathetic the vision of masculinity at the core of the MAGA movement is. Just the most try hard, cartoonish, insecure take on manhood. As a parody of toxic masculinity this would be mocked as way too heavy handed.

The number of public figures saying "I didn't agree with most of his views" when the views in question included that broad swaths of the population should be excluded from society or just outright killed.

It's just not good enough for electeds on the left to say that they "disagreed with" Kirk's views. Saying gay people should be stoned to death and that air disasters are caused by Black pilots--these are not political disagreements. They are attacks on the basic humanity of our fellow human beings.
