One could write a practically endless thread with examples like these. Hegseth was channeling a very American tradition by deliberately targeting civilians in combat.

The Allies targeted Tokyo for Operation Meetinghouse in World War II because US intelligence knew most buildings there were made of wood and bamboo, so fire would spread quickly and would maximize civilian casualties (more civilians were killed in these attacks than in Hiroshima and Nagasaki).

That's why these takes are always dead ends; they are so abstract they don't tell us anything about how to operate in the world. How does having less clarity about our moral beliefs help us make a more just and equal world?

Outrage over 'Leftist purity tests' after 2016 ignored that centrists have their own purity tests and chide progressives for failing them. Pundits pretended they were having an abstract philosophical discussion about the idea of purity tests instead of just expressing their own policy preferences.

It's not just that he opposes basic human rights for trans folks (although that alone should be disqualifying). If someone is unable to clock the trans sports "issue" as a moral panic manufactured from thin air by reactionaries, I really have to question their powers of perception.

This is such a crucial rhetorical victory for the right, because it allows them to claim the rational centre no matter how radical their ideas are, and it compels many people to dismiss as 'radical' the most banal progressive positions.

I quite regularly have the experience of meeting people who are careful to say that they don't identify as politically left or right, but all their views on political issues are based on explicitly right wing taking points.

There's so much discourse right now about how right wing messaging reaches so many people, but it's really a bit more subtle than that. What the right has been so successful at is reaching people who don't think of themselves as partisan and inculcating extremely partisan reactionary views in them.

The other day I heard him say, "I'm no right winger. I don't do extremes. I'm middle left and middle right." This was a few days after he attended a rally at a migrant support centre where protesters chanted 'Ireland is for the Irish,' threw fireworks at police officers and lit a police van on fire.

I've long been concerned about the logical thinkings.

Hammon would have been the first female NBA head coach ever; instead she went on to win 3 titles and 1 Coach of the Year Award with the WNBA's Las Vegas Aces. Billups, on the other hand, went 117/211 with the Blazers and appears to have been illegally rigging bets for the Mafia 😂😂.
