I like bikes
Low-pressure, nobby-tired horses for slippery, snow-covered commuting courses. #cycleCommute #goByBike

Clicked over 10,000km for the year on my ride home today. It was a rainy, windy, west coast day, and I was riding the beater commuter bike that has been with me for over 30 years and thousands of commutes. It seems appropriate.

Utrecht 🇳🇱 shows how vibrant streets thrive when walking and cycling are prioritized. Car parking still has a role, but it doesn’t need to be woven into every corner.

Garages on the periphery let people park, while others can walk or bike to the area, creating more space for community and business.

It's that exact feeling that started me on my cycling journey 54 years ago.
My older daughter learned to ride a bike today. She was so happy. As she was riding, she said, “I feel free.” My heart is full.

A big storm rolling into these parts tomorrow will bring sideways rain and power outages to our small island on the southwest coast of BC. Until then, I'll be basking in the glow of this glorious late fall morning commute. #cycleCommute

I rode home after fire practice a few nights ago at 11 p.m. Our remote island community only has about 1,200 people, but I crossed paths with two other riders on my 5km commute. The bike count was twice that of the car count. It was a good commute!

If you're on Hornby Island on Nov 30, come see my show about riding bicycles in the French mountains.
