Was at Craigmillar Castle in my homemade Outlawking kit with Phil from Tantallon this week. Phil was actually in Outlawking. Whereas I just play at dress-up for the kids for medieval educational talks. #ManAtArms #storytelling #MedievalSky #CraigmillarCastle @thebadasshistorian.bsky.social

For centuries, Scotland’s identity has been closely linked to its stone-built heritage.

BGS research, commissioned by Historic Environment Scotland, reveals an opportunity to re-establish the Scottish building stone market to maintain the country’s historic buildings.

I created this logo for Combat International, the fight choreography team responsible for combat scenes in TV & movies such as Outlander, Gladiator, The Outlaw King etc. Charlie Allan, the chief of CI with his team built the medieval Fort/Village Duncarron featured in Outlander.

George Rae was appointed Edinburgh's "plague doctor" in 1645 after the first doctor died. He was promised a huge sum of money as it was expected that he, too, would die before he could collect. Rae tended to the sick & survived. He spent 10 years trying to collect the fee. #skystorians #histmed

Please remember not to celebrate RLS's birthday today.

You can celebrate the anniversary of his birth, but in 1891 he formally transferred "ALL AND WHOLE my rights and priviledges" in his birthday to Annie H. Ide, a young girl from Vermont who was sad that her own birthday fell on Christmas Day.
