If it’s anything like meta, a large portion of the old guard have retired to become farmers. The new waves don’t last long enough to learn from mistakes.

It feels like a big fuckoff fresh graze. But instead of fading after a few minutes, it’s there paining away for 3-7 fucking days.

2/10 wouldn’t recommend.

Pretty much, you can make one from a set of tights and a coat hanger, if you’re in a bind

The fancy metal ones I think originally used offcuts from perforated sheet metal

They aren’t overly sensitive, so the hiss might be because of preamp. You’ll need to move the mic closer to keep the noise levels down (because you don’t need as much gain)

Former audio person here:

The sm57 doesn’t have an integrated foam pop shield thing, so it’ll capture more “puh” when you say p.

If you had it near your mouth without a pop shield, you might be better off with a sm58

It would be more convincing if he earned enough to actually be at risk from “Rachel” and her tax changes.

If diagnosed at the right time, a dyslexia/dysgraphia diagnosis will save the state cash. Mainly because a kid that would otherwise be condemned to shit grades would get support and thrive.

But that’s not going to fit into a headline aimed at what ever Twitter group gets Starmer hard that morning

Given how well single justice procedure has worked, it’s not looking positive. It’s easy to see how loaded it’ll be in favour of prosecution.

Also if an autocratic government were to suddenly be in power, we’d risk star chamber all over again.

I was trying to find a version of Purcell’s “ode to St Cecilia” that isn’t played like a funeral march: m.youtube.com/watch?v=UL_P...

This one is close enough

The hippogriff was a massive headache to render. To the point that I think Framestore made a loss (I could be mistaken on that)

Now it’s much more simple, and probably be done for tv with much less time and budget.

Fur for example is now pretty cheap to do, trying to do this in 2008: m.youtube.com/watch?v=WD5L...

would have been challenging. I looked after the render machines, and simulating/rendering hair took thousands of machines many many hours to render a few seconds of footage.

First one is the 2008 other BBC version.

The bbc version has much better VFX than the golden compass even with a smaller budget and 5x the amount of footage.

The productivity gains in VFX are *wild*

Ex VFX person here, they are trying with AI tools but it turns out they are still more expensive and require a ton of cleanup.

*however* with decent art direction, and a director who can plan, it’s perfectly possible to do wild CGI on a tv budget. See BBC his dark materials vs golden compass. 1/n
