this is my game, I Don’t Remember When I Started Killing Bugs Again. to play, you log it every time you kill an insect. this is also available as a web app @transwron.gs made with me. people tell me it changed their behavior- they think twice about hurting insects when they remember the rules.

Speaking of said winner and other winners I would take it as a personal favor if you would try out excellent games made by former students, such as:
CONSUME ME

DESPELOTE

BABY STEPS

Hard for me fault anyone who doesn’t know good games exist when almost no major gaming website reviewed or covered this year’s Seamus McNally Grand Prize winner.

a friend of mine who's worked on a somewhat recent free multiplayer game says this about player feedback that I feel like is very astute

hearing the feedback is frequently important but responding to it well almost never means just doing what the players say they want

Taking another shot at my Terrarium game, an idea somewhere between The Sims, Dwarf Fortress, and Disco Elysium. This draft starts the characters off with nothing, where they have to build their little community from scratch. It's going pretty well so far, right?

Violence in the Space Station game should cause as many problems as it solves, and I want to keep it as mechanics-light and emergence-heavy as possible. Most fights should end with one player briefly KOed, with actual weapons both highly effective and likely to cause collateral damage.

One of my students has been talking about his and a friend's attempt at remaking Goonstation, and it's reminding me of my own long-standing designs on taking on that white whale of game dev. I have a decade old design doc and a simple MUD engine I threw together a few years ago--let's fuck around
