In 1983, 42 years ago, this Gingko was certified as the largest and oldest in the US. It is located in Frederick, Maryland in a garden of a house built in 1750. The woman who has tended the garden for nearly 30 years was kind enough to open the gate to her garden so we could see it up close.

Musk has now poured $8.3 million into buying the tie-breaking Wisconsin Supreme Court seat for Brad Schimel. That is vastly more than any other single donor—to eliminate a state-level check on his and Trump's power.

Walmart called the police on a cis-woman using the women's bathroom.

Even after proving she's a woman, "one deputy continued to question her appearance, insisting she 'looked like a man.'"

"If you wanted to make us safe, pass gun reforms. Stop cutting Medicaid. Stop cutting cancer research. Stop cutting funds for veterans. That is what will make our cities safe."

Nice sunset crossing the James River in Richmond, on the way to the potluck.
Taking the same route yesterday I was on the phone with 911 reporting an accident we pulled up just too late to witness. First completed 911 call, hold time was about 30 seconds (Felt way longer)

This is also why I’m not a fan of the FAFO line of post-election shitposting. How many people actually thought they were voting to, like, ban trees in cities and to pull the US out of the World Health Organization?

Maybe they were naive. They were also lied to by a lot of powerful people.

these terminations are good evidence that this is just wanton destruction by deranged ideologues. there is no rhyme or reason other than whatever makes sense to a bunch of zoomer nazis and their bosses and enablers
The U.S. has two tsunami warning centers, both operated by NOAA. Employees were terminated from these centers today. The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center covers Hawaiʻi, and now it is less safe to be near the beach.

What’s for breakfast?
German Apple Pancake, sub pears.
This cross between a Dutch baby and tarte tatin has caramelized spiced pears covered with a batter. Skillet goes into a hot oven to puff the dough that’s turned out onto a plate upon completion. The result is a custardy base, caramelly fruit.
