I wrote a bunch of words trying to explain how economically incomprehensible the tariff stuff is. It explains how a 5th grader understands basic econ better than Trump and his economic advisors.

Trump Declares A Trade War On Uninhabited Islands, US Military, And Economic Logic
There’s a fundamental problem with Donald Trump’s new trade policy: it fails a test that actual 5th graders can pass. I know this because I tried explaining his “Liberation Day&#8…

The tariffs are catastrophic. But so too are the abuses of power, so is the corruption, so are the police state tactics, so is the destruction of our health care infrastructure, so are the ways our national security is being endangered, so are the attacks on our core freedoms.

I beg to differ. This is curated failure. open.substack.com/pub/jesspipe...

I am Jewish.

I have spent literally my entire life on university campuses.

I was the child of two Jewish professors.

Since kindergarten I have spent exactly one year as neither a student nor a professor.

I have, on occasion, experienced antisemitism. But never on a university campus.

The 1% evade $163B in taxes per year.

Tesla paid $0 in federal income taxes from 2018 - 2022 & 2024.

Billionaires can write off the cost of their private jets and yachts.

While undocumented immigrants paid $96B in taxes in 2022.

The more you look into it, the crazier it gets.

In 2019, Pfizer reported ZERO taxable profits in the US—despite selling $20 BILLION worth of drugs to American patients.

By reporting their profits offshore, they dodged billions in taxes and paid a 5.4% tax rate.

Don't tell me our tax code isn't rigged for giant corporations.

I wrote something about the secret police kidnapping and disappearing students over their op-eds, and wondering what happened to all those people screaming about the "free speech crisis on campus."

Trump’s Secret Police Are Now Disappearing Students For Their Op-Eds
For years, we’ve been hearing breathless warnings about a “campus free speech crisis” from self-proclaimed free speech warriors. Their evidence? College students doing what colleg…

If you accept that non-citizens have no right to due process, you are accepting that citizens have no right to due process. All the government has to do is claim that you are not a citizen; without due process you have no chance to prove the contrary.

“Are you worried?” That is always the first question.

“Of course I am worried,” I respond. “The president of the United States considers me an enemy and has promised retribution. I would be an idiot not to be worried. But I am not going to give in. I will continue to fight.”

Every neighborhood has that one house where the drama runs deeper than the foundation—family issues don't stop at the front door.

Ultimately, at the end of the day, it will be up to Americans to get their own house in order. #anxiousneighbour

'Segregated facilities' are no longer explicitly banned in federal contracts
The Trump administration cut a clause from federal contracting rules that had been on the books since the 1960s: Companies are no longer explicitly prohibited from having segregated facilities.
