It's our tendency to examine any change in a data series without considering context

Grade school math refresher: The numerator is the top number in a fraction - what's changed; the denominator is the bottom number, it's the full data set.

Always look for the full context! You must understand the data set in question and recognize that a big number out of context is inherently misleading.

It's easy to get fooled if you don't. I have a few chapters about this in "How NOT to Invest"
