Another in a long list of studies showing that gender-affirming care saves lives. Yet anti-trans politicians like Danielle Smith and Scott Moe continue to scapegoat vulnerable populations for political gains. Reprehensible.
A new study reveals that gender-affirming care for transgender kids and young adults likely lowers rates of suicidality among those populations. The study found that suicide rates among all the youth who were studied dropped by over 67%.
New Study: Gender-Affirming Care Dramatically Lowers Suicide Risk for Trans Kids
Twenty-seven states in the US ban gender-affirming treatments for trans youth, including hormone therapy.

Probably the worst of them all is the Ring doorbell.

It’s sold as safety, but it’s much more about fear and paranoia in a box that turns you against your community. The more of them in the world, the worse our neighborhoods get. Don’t help the spiral continue.

i’m not at all surprised to see our governments are this spineless in the face of an active genocide
French President Emmanuel Macron had been pushing for France and its G7 allies, the UK and Canada, to recognise Palestinian statehood. But London and Ottawa “did not want to face the wrath of the United States”, reports Reuters.

Congrats Josh Johnson, a well deserved promotion!
This week, I’m hosting The Daily Show Tuesday through Thursday.

It’s my first time hosting anything on TV. Ever.

I’ve spent years writing behind the scenes, learning from truly great and talented people. Now, for three nights, I get to sit at the desk and do it myself.

During the election campaign, Mark Carney pledged to increase the CBC’s budget by $150 million dollars a year.

Now that he’s in government, he’s telling the public broadcaster to find up to $198 million in annual cuts. He can’t claim to defend the country when he’s gutting its media and culture.
Suggest your own spending cuts, Carney government tells CBC, Via Rail and other Crown corporations
Nearly all government departments and federally-funded organizations are expected to propose "savings" of up to 15 per cent of their spending in the next three years.

Party leaders hold so much power because voters feel trapped by first-past-the-post and the big-tent parties it creates.

Proportional representation lets people switch parties and still get representation.

That gives leaders a real incentive to listen or lose support fast.
