The US doesn't suffer from a trade deficit but rather benefits from a capital surplus. People ship us savings & we invest & spend it. Ofc we need to mfg more drugs, ammo, steel but to eliminate the capital surplus the economy has to be unattractive. That's killing the patient to save him

I’m all for building up US industrial capacity. Extraordinarily high tariffs on bananas, input goods, and random poor countries like Lesotho just isn’t the way.

The first and most important thing to know about last night's Exec order is that it's intended to break current law and allow people throughout the federal gov look at yr tax returns. Beyond that it's intended to compel states to turn over all their data to the fed govt.

I’m totally fine with deporting gang members who commit crimes who don’t have legal status.
I just don’t want Tom Homan or an ICE agent grabbing anyone off the street and flying them to a prison in El Salvador while claiming they are all of those things with zero due process.
