Note: it's not even curfew yet.

State police just started pushing people off the business park corner. Here in the road, a brave group of demonstrators are attempting to hold their line.

Judge Perry says she will issue an oral ruling now and a formal ruling tomorrow.

Perry says the state's temporary restraining order against national guard deployment will be granted, "in part," with a fuller ruling to follow tomorrow.

Chicago's federal courthouse is already built like a fortress. It's been surrounded by this big fuck off metal fence since the start of September, & you can only get inside through security stations. US marshals inside as well.

Sending natl. guard to the courthouse too is just fall-of-Rome cosplay

I'm really glad more people are realizing how brutal ICE has been in Chicago but it's really weird to see people talking about Rev Black getting attacked like it happened yesterday and not 3 weeks ago. Like, I'm glad people are catching up! But it's very weird.

@unraveledpress.com & other press have been threatened, shot with less-lethals and arrested while reporting on federal immigration activities in Chicagoland and on the resulting protests at Broadview.

I'm now at a hearing asking the federal court to rein ICE & co in. I'll let you know how it goes.
Well, yeah, we're suing ICE.

This wasn't really a hard decision. As little faith as we have in institutions, we recognize the value of drawing visible lines in the sand. We drew ours personally a while ago, but better late than never.

May every protester be freed and may this occupation end.

It was only two weeks ago when we first saw an ICE agent unholster his sidearm at Broadview. Since then, there have been many reports of agents directly pointing their guns at protesters. The escalation is escalating.

At the Broadview ICE facility.

A handful of ISP and Cook County Sheriff's Officers are milling about. They tell us they're here to "check things out" and "make sure it's safe."

Broadview police chief also just arrived. They're consulting and looking at the fence.

Steve is fine/uninjured. Some neck pain from being tackled.

His biggest concern while in custody was what was happening to people outside the facility since he couldn't hear any of the munitions from inside.

In typical Steve fashion, he also made a number of new friends while detained.

Really proud of alum Tara Goodarzi (who took my gen ed class Biology of Human Behavior back in the day!) for her fantastic piece on the felony charges pro-Palestine UIUC students are still facing because of their activism and exercise of free speech. State's attorney Rietz is a UIUC employee BTW.
