Do ecological thresholds driven by nutrient limitation transfer across biological levels of organization?

Our team explores how ecological stoichiometry can help tackle questions like this here!

Nonlinear thinking in ecology and evolution: applying the threshold elemental ratio across levels of ecological organization - Oecologia
Nonlinear dynamics govern ecological processes; thus, understanding thresholds is important for measuring and forecasting the effects of climate change and management of natural resources. However, id...

The scientific publishing we used to know is broken in a way we will not be able to fix. It does not even deserve a fix. Let’s move on.
"Runctitiononal features"? "Medical fymblal"? "1 Tol Line storee"? This gets worse the longer you look at it. But it's got to be good, because it was published in Nature Scientific Reports last week: www.nature.com/articles/s41... h/t @asa.tsbalans.se

The current Mediterranean SST anomalies are absurd.
June 2025 mean Mediterranean SST reached 6 of the 10 highest daily anomalies since 1982. The three highest values were recorded in June 21, 20 and 22 with 2.65, 2.57 and 2.51ºC.
A mean Med SST value of 25.1 was recorded on June 23.

These two award-winning scientists illustrate how messed up the system is in 🇩🇪 and 🇨🇭. One had a successful career but had to find a permanent position elsewhere. The other's contract will run out in 3 years. It also illustrates how it won't be easy to accommodate US scientists in these systems. 🌊
🌊 Great medal and award lecture at #EGU25!

Congrats to @tatianailyina.bsky.social for receiving the Fridtjof Nansen Medal and @polarocean.bsky.social for the Outstanding ECS Award for their outstanding work in oceanography👏 Truly great scientists!

Even among marine biogeochemists, I would say there are only a handful worldwide that truly understand "alkalinity" (@agdco2.bsky.social is one and you should follow him), so it's always astounding to me that we're all now using the term casually like this. 🌊

Alles, was schiefläuft im deutschen Wissenschaftssystem.
Was ich da alles gesagt hab? 1 🧵! Da ich vermute, dass Euch das besonders interessiert, fange ich mal mit meiner Reaktion auf das Einkuscheln an. (1/8)
