What gets me is that those kind of notifs you usually get in apps and software that don't sell your data. Old news, I know; still galling 😐

Allegedly it stands for Time Phased Force Deployment List but that's just word soup; they just wanted to be able to talk abt tip-fiddling 😏

Speaking from the medical field I know: doctors are often not tech savvy. They won't necessarily be able to tell you any of this. They'll reassure you that it'll be fine, bc that's their job, or bc that's what they've been told. And it might be! You're still allowed to say no, just in case it's not.

Those 3rd party providers may even have the best intentions to keep this data safe, but that's a lot of transmission routes & data storage that was built in a very short time without oversight. You can't even be sure that the data processing happens in the same region you're in/ under the same law >

I liked Halestorm but was mostly there for Bloodywood. When they played New Delhi, their fierce love and pride for the city rly shone through. It was wonderful to get to be a part of that. I was pleased that the crowd seemed to like them; also they took a group pic with us at the end 🥺

Also both @findmeinthealps.bsky.social & @neery.bsky.social thought we were going to see Alestorm (neither had heard of Halestorm before) 😂 Neery dutifully prepared for the concert listening to Alestorm's discography. Both of them discovering this minutes before Halestorm came on was sure a moment 😂

I learned to do small talk in English when I moved to the UK for university! All my "how to I casually converse with ppl abt nothing" skills come from that, not the previous 20-ish years in Germany 😅 Wonder if it's for some reason easier to learn that in a 2nd language? 🤔

I have to rec frame.work laptops whenever I see asks for laptop recs. They make repairable, configurable devices that come in a wide price range. I've got the 16 and am v happy; I think the cheapest they have is the 12. May be too far from what you're looking for, but I figured a link can't hurt!

Surely one of the most French ways to fall off a mountain 😂

And the worst thing is that the people who worked on this are perfectly nice & put a lot of effort in. So now I have to tell a bunch of folks who aren't stupid or bad at their job that they made something that's useless bc nobody budgeted for the person who knows that a car's wheels can't be square.

Was talking to Alps abt how GenAI is like statistics/just as unintuitive to understand as statistics often are, and they got offended on behalf of statistics. After they explained, I agree with them: with a 70/30 chance, you're still seeing the 30. GenAI shows you only the 70, without a quantifier.

Awww that's so cute and so weird! All she needs is a little teacup 🍵

That's true 😂 it's entertaining to read all the baffled "WHY does my cat DO that" posts on reddit etc though, also to learn about all the weird variations of Odd Thing Cat Does there are. Cats are truly the weirdest little gremlins
