Day 19, Huzzah & etc. FF screenshots thru my read. Comics used to have stones. You'd just have a book where a KKK garbed Hitler was the villain for a book and dress down nazis for 20 pages. Now it's all gotta be subtle. Fuck fascists the old men in the 60's got this one thing consistently right.

Day 18 of FF thru screenshots and it's time to talk about Rama Tut. There was a thing maybe millenials and above had where kids were interested in one of four things. Space, Cowboys, the Ocean, or Egypt. Rama Tut, as Doom, Kang, or Reed's kid is an example of that from the 60s & I think that's neat.
A 4 panel diatribe on egypt. With hiroglyphics and alicia to boot. TBH it's good stan wrote so much, she couldn't' read the heiroglyphics kind of him to mansplain. That said it's all clearly Jacks Chariots of the Gods BS that he was always on so I'll save you from it. Rama Tut with his big stupid hat and his big stupid facial hair being a smug prick to the FF RT: "Now that you know who I am, there is no need to intro-duce YOUR-SELVES... For I am quite familiar with the FANTASTIC FOUR!" FF off screen: "You KNOW us?!" RT: "Ahh! I THOUGHT that remark would startle you!" He's so fuckin white you guys it's unreal Ben whoops some Rama Tut goons, it's kinda uninteresting in the dialogue so I won't word for word it, but there's a lot of limbs and poses and I find that impressive. Johnny makes fun of Sue for mentioning their anachronistic outfits, ben says hold my beer and then womps 'em. A dude watching that Clint Eastwood movie that's a chekov's gun in BTTF3 on a yellow submarine looking future tv thinking to himself "Why was I born into an age when the only excitement a man can find is watching 3-d stereovisions from a thousand years ago?!!" That man? Rama Tut. Tut is short for einstein.

Day 17, almost grown! FF, screenshots, you get it. Just want to say the continued and constant antagonism of Johnny and Ben kills me. It's so great and the friction really seems like it matters, it's more toothless in a modern sense, but it was a great framework to start a real lasting friendship.
Johnny, in full torch mode says "Well, I'll be hanged...!!" and Ben, without missing a beat says "Probably, Son... Probably!" Johnny's flying off to save the day as Reed consoles a 'weakened' Sue and Ben watches in the foreground. Reed "Easy Honey -- you're safe now! The plan worked perfectly! Okay TORCH, time for the final phase! Seal him up, little friend!" Johnny says "With PLEASURE boss man!" and Ben finishes with "I STILL wish I coulda clobbered him just ONCE!" TBH I think this is about the villain of the week. That said, it supports my bully narrative so I'm letting it ride.

Day 16, hey wait, don't look at the date shh I didn't already miss a day. Day 16 of FF screenshots cataloguing my readthru of every book. This day is dedicated to the first Suecentric character. Namor, and by extension, all the atlantians! Vulcan's a weirdo, but I love that we get the romance drama.

The absolutely stunning Namorita with big hair blue skin and a helluva attitude. Namor screaming in Ben's ear underwater as ben confused thinks "be-- but-- it is!!"

FF post by screenshots, it's day 15 and 5am, let's do it. Today is about The Thinker! A man so smart he can predict anything, and in the early days is viewed as a prescient computer. Predicting things second thru constants & variables. It was very silly and his methods and FF's response were grand.

What does it DO??" It's always important to be able to identify your own gas by smell aye Reed? Ben lifting the thinker -with his bad hairline and green garb- off the ground by the collar while johnny and reed look on. The Thinker: "How? HOW did you do it?? How did you beat me?" Reed: "You overlooked ONE thing in your plans THINKER! There is always an X-FACTOR to prepare for -- the UNEXPECTED!" Ben: "Aww Write 'im a LETTER Reed! I'm itchin' to CLOBBER 'im!" As all early thinker stories are this is extremely silly.

Yowzer, almost missed a day! Day 14, FF posting, screengrabs go! I'm gonna shout out some of the letters that got sent in to Marvel re:FF. I love it and since I started reading these holistically I have never seen a woman I disagree with. This leads me to believe overall women get comics. Full stop.

Day 13, give it up for day 13! I gotta make this one brief, so I'll just say I love the weird faces and failures that the art get sometimes. It makes me laugh and I find it incredibly charming. Real evidence that you can always do art, because you could get to this level, and beyond.

Day 12 of FF posting thru Screenshots. This is a shout out to how Ben talks to normal joes, or even about normal joes, it's spectacular. Full of contempt and dickswinging & weird hostility for the 'enemies' of the day. Opportunists, commies, and abusers in the military? Bastards forever. Its lovely.

Day 11, F4 posting via screenshots. Today's post is about how hostile Johnny & Ben were to each other at the start. They were bullying each other until the other says KYS. It's shocking today, but it's an important part of why FF worked at the start. They were fallible humans who were often cruel!
Reed with a balled fist, Thing, and a lit Human Torch talk. Reed: "We were wrong to tackle them with brute force alone! They're at least as strong as WE are! We've got to find them again, and then OUT-SMART them!" Ben: "If that means we gotta use our BRAINS, then the torch better stay behind!" Johnny: Aw, go play in traffic, you big ox!" The four in outfit descending from their rooftop elevator, Ben is sitting and the party looks exhausted. Caption box "After catching their breath, the colorful foursome heads for their skyscraper suite via their private rooftop elevator" Ben: "I don't know whether I oughtta THANK you, or paste you one, hot-head!" Done this ten days in a row, someone get me a popper. FF, pics, you get it.

Today we're gonna get how dynamic some of the art can be, whether that's the super apes or Reed, Jack Kirby put a lot of this into really dynamic poses and usages of the powers that disappear when he leaves for 10+ years.
The FF fighting the hulk, Reed tries to trap him and then Hulk pulls a tasmanian devil routine and is able to break free the caption says "Like a living tornado, the HULK spins himself around, causing MR. FANTASTIC to unwind his body before the irresistable power of the incredible creature" the spelling error is theirs not mine After a good-natured fight, Ben traps Mr Fantastic into a jar and he coils like a spring. Ben says "Do you get the message, mister?" Reed replies "I read you loud and clear, little friend! You Win! We'll all go together!" Red Ghost is freaking the fuck out because the gun he was holding turned into a grey baboon. The chimp doesn't look pleased about where Ghost's hands were either. Red Ghost says "-- The BABOON! He TOO was affected by the cosmic rays! He now has the power to change his shape-- to turn into a copy of anything! It is more than I dared HOPE for! But what about the orangutan -- and ME??"

Day 9 of FF thru screenshots, and I'll just keep this one trim by saying, I love how slang and posture changes over time to become more suggestive than it otherwise would be.

I love my stupid jokes and so seeing stuff like this just makes me laugh 60 years later.

I love my cone-headed son. Day 8 of FF retrospective thru screenshots is one about my absolute favorite FF antagonist, The Impossible Man a Poppupian. He's a hivemind that can do whatever he wants & acts like an obnoxious fey imp. He's great, he's how my mom got me into comics & he makes me laugh.

We're a week in to my posting of FF screenshots about my journey through those books. Let's talk about Reed. Reed Richards? Not a very nice man most of the time. Then they work on rehabilitating him, he gets better, & backslide him. I like Ryan North's modern take, but the 60's cunt makes me happy.
Mr Fantastic got flat stanley'd by a boulder Doom shooting his lil finger laser like inspector gadget saying to Reed "While YOU were in my form, richards, you never suspect that my right index finger houses a sub0miniature transistor-powered atomic blast gun! NOTHING can withstand its impact-- you shall now all learn!" And I gotta side with doom on this one, this is a failure of reed not to think that would be a thing. three panels of reed talking with a shirtless human ben grimm pointing and talking in the last panel. First panel he's pointing at a statue of abe lincoln "maybe THIS will help them to understand! See this bust of Abe Lincoln? Remember his famous remark about his mother? The time he said that all that he was-- all that he ever HOPED to be-- he owed to her?" next panel "Lincoln's mother was the most important person in teh world to him! BUT-- she didn't help him fight the civil war! She didn't split rails for him! She didn't battle with his enemies!" Final panel, Sue is also there and while she doesn't get to speak I'm guessing this whole thing is about her. Ben says "In fact, if we printed Lincoln's life in our mag, some wise guy would probably write in and ask why we don't leave his mother out of the story, because she doesn't DO enough!" And Reed, while console Sue says "And while we're on the subject of "doing enough"-" The early FF writers larped responding to fan mail in the actual comic, it was weird and bad but the bad made it great.

Day 6 of my posting through my FF reading journey via screenshot backlogs. Just over half a year in, we've got people from everyone taking notice of the FF even the dreaded Planet X! I love how fucking ugly and weird he is. We get a lot of perverts and freaks like that in FF.

Little do the earth-lings suspect that I, Kurrgo, master of planet X, many lgiht years away from their primitive earth, have been monitoring their actions for weeks!"

Day 5 of posting my journey thru Fantastic 4. Today I get to hi-lite my fav doom story, (one of the only good ones) his first ish! He kidnaps Sue & force the FF to go back in time to steal blackbeards magic jewels. The FF disguise Ben as BB & it turns out he was maybe always blackbeard! LET HIM STAY
Reed and Johnny disguising Ben to blend in, off-panel "There! You look real natural!" Ben, in a pirate cap, yellow bandana, eyepatch and with fake hair and beard "SAY! This feels pretty GOOD!" They spend most of the ish raping and pillaging (or the comic code authority approved equivalent) before realizing that they have amassed blackbeard's treasure and are ready to go back for a doom double cross. Ben however does not want to go back, on this panel he is in pirate disguise yelling with a yellow tinted helmsman in the background. "Why CAN'T I stay? The future holds nothing for me! In the Twentieth Century I'm nothing but a monster... A FREAK!" continued into a second bubble "But HERE I'm SOMEBODY! I'm a leader of men! I'm a captain! I'm the guy who started the legend of blackbeard! The kids will read about me in school some day! I ain't givin' this up ... NEVER! And then reed and johnny force him to go back, which I always thought was f'd up

Day 4 of posting about my journey thru FF via screenshots from a year ago. This is a special shoutout to the era it's in. The writing of 60's FF w/ big Stan bubbles filled w/ terms & ideas of the era. Some natural, some as idioms. The cup of coffee we'll revisit later on. I just find it so endearing

George Klein and Dick Ayers were incredible inkers especially when they were playing with shadows and weird light sources. It's one of the real highs of the earliest art, which says plenty when there's a host of highs.

Moleman's speech bubble says "-- and as for me -- I am the moleman!!" Another crazily inked pair of panels of I believe the wingless wizard noticing the invisible woman and then hypnotizing her? Idk too much text to fully but it is crockery of the highest nature (endearing)

Day 2 of recounting my path through Fantastic Four from random screenshots I took. Jack Kirby was the man for a thousand reasons, but god do I love his little freaks who wig out, whether they're from Monster Island, the past, or the microverse. Each of them look like they could have a DK voice line
A red skinned freak monster who is LOSING IT because Sue went invisible right in front of her. I'll be honest, this looks like a crazy bat guy draped in red light with a big buck tooth and a lil pedro from Napoleon Dynamite stache & I have no memory of who or what he is. I'll guess.... Another monster from monster island. Hey you guys remember when the FF encountered a Cyclops with chest gills? Me neither but god do I love the way the look of consternation fills his whole face.

Since September of 2024 I've been reading Fantastic Four & have nearly read every crumb, every morsel of their work. I'd like to take 2025 & spread the joy of the highs, lows, & occasional insanity of the Fantastic Four, starting w/ a couple of instances of Ben Grimm drowning in cum. Happy New Year!
Softhide Ben Grimm as The Thing traveling through the sewers in a very early Stan & Jack FF issue. He is letting the water carry him along, which means he is neutral buoyant? The water is paler than one would think for the sewers so it appears to be a more suggestive liquid. Also he looks like he yearns for death. Ben Grim as classic Jack Kirby thing drowning in a pale material that, if I recall correctly is the Frightful Four's doing (either Paste Pot Pete's cum gun or Sandman's Sand, man) He has several speech bubbles but the only one cropped in frame is him saying "[I have] A brain as well as a gorgeous 'phizzeek'!!!" Sometimes I think Stan was paid by the lettter
