A really brilliant article that deserves to be widely read. I think there is an appetite out there for this conversation; I think people are coming round to the realisation that more of the same only leads us in 1 direction - there is hope: but we need grassroots initiatives when our leaders fail us
Why is Keir Starmer's government adopting policies that look perfectly designed to prevent its re-election? This column seeks to unravel the mystery and explain the fundamental forces that now govern our politics. www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...

We need a new politics of belonging, not Labour’s craven appeasement of capital, says Guardian columnist George Monbiot

Daughter’s nursery are doing a carnival day tomorrow because it’s ‘one of the days of mardi gras’ and I don’t want to nitpick but it sounds fun and her usual nursery day is Tuesday (aka Mardi)

The reports about changes to Arts Council England‘s eligibility for Project Grants is going to rock the industry.

Should be made public in the next 2 weeks but crikey, it looks bleak for artists and independent organisations not in receipt of ACE regular funding.

I started to calculate the last time I left the city, imagining it to be years ago. It’s been 5 weeks.

Realised today that I never knew the full story behind ‘Ride on Time’ and it’s exactly the kind of deep dive that this time of year is made for

It’s even worse knowing that Wes actually met trans kids, listened to them cry about how awful it would be to go through the wrong puberty, how this is a lifesaving treatment, and is fucking doing this anyway

It’s even more heartless than shutting them out of conversations
BREAKING: I have seen confirmation that the indefinite puberty blocker ban for trans kids that was passed by the NI Executive yesterday will be UK-wide. It will come into effect on January 1 2025 when the temporary ban expires.

It is being laid before Parliament today.

I’m just about to retire an iPhone 5s and only because WhatsApp has stopped working
I think it would be pretty neat than instead of celebrating when we all get a brand new product, we instead brag about how long we have had our things and still use them.
I've had my iphone 6s since 2016 and just replaced it with a hand-me-down iphone 11.

So I’m finishing my maternity leave during the darkest month and then going back to work in the other darkest month. This felt like a good idea when I was planning it.

Just incredibly bleak that when a Labour government is finally in power, disabled people still have to wake up to front pages calling them a blight on society.

to be clear the downing st spokesperson saying that israel has a right to defend itself in response to an arrest warrant for war crimes and crimes against humanity being issued is not only an absolute disgrace, it should be considered as making them materially complicit in those crimes

The baby napped for over an hour (almost unheard of) and I spent the entire time watching IG stories. No housework achieved. No regrets.

It’s nice to get lots of new theatre followers but I should warn that I’m currently on maternity leave, not managing to make or watch theatre and still deciding what this account is for. I’ve been contemplating a post about tofu for several days now.

I watch a lot of TV with the volume down using subtitles. Now when I watch without them with the volume back up, I miss a lot of what’s being said. Has my brain started relying on the subtitles or is everyone mumbling?
