My mom can’t drive right now so I took her to Whole Foods. The last time I checked, Mexico was not local to Columbia, Maryland.

This new wand toy has been THE toy of choice in my house. Here’s Rubble losing his mind over it.

Rubble looks like I caught him red-pawed but he’s just a goofus.

Rubble made biscuits for a solid 30 minutes while I lay on my couch reading yesterday. All 3 love the “entertainment” in my basement. I don’t know what they saw but their tails were whipping.

Presidents Day reminder: Local elections are just as important as the POTUS race. Evil GOP shit like book bans, anti-LGBT initiatives, and laws that turn women seeing healthcare into criminals happen mostly on school boards and in state & city legislatures.

Okay, now I've read the Barkley/Sanford report. My opinion: the 2023 Hugo administrators perpetrated a fraud and the Hugo Award is in a very bad moment. What happens next determines its future. I have a piece over on my site going into my thoughts in some detail:

The 2023 Hugo Fraud and Where We Go From Here
There’s an investigative report out on the administration of the 2023 Hugo Awards, by Chris Barkley and Jason Sanford, and make no mistake about it, it is grim. The short version is that elig…

Wow it’s worse than I thought. Great reporting!
For the last few weeks I've been working with Chris Barkley @cmzhang42.bsky.social of @file770.bsky.social on a report about censorship in the 2023 Hugo Awards.

Leaked emails and files indicate authors and works deemed “not eligible” for the awards were removed due to political considerations. 1/3

Been a weird Christmas with my sister’s family sick so we haven’t done our traditional Christmas Eve yet, and Christmas tonight will not have them. But it’s still going to be tasty.

I have a bowl of what I call “grandma candy” in my office with the strawberry bon bons, Werther’s originals, butterscotch, Creme Savers…and atomic fireballs. One of those was NOT a think my grandma had 😂😂
The strawberry ones, that come in the metallic wrapper that's supposed to look like a strawberry.
What is everyone’s favorite old school or grandma candy?

I think mine would have to be soft peppermints.

The normal has changed. COVID will continue to circulate, mutate, and pose a risk--particularly to the immunocompromised and elderly. So yes, masking should be normalized like it is in Asia.

But more importantly, we need to upgrade our workplace safety rules and public health infrastructure.

Florence is not usually one for a snuggle but this morning after the gym and shower she wanted snuggles. I wish I could have stayed longer, silly work getting in the way.
