griffin and I are rereading slowly together and having book club and i'm struck by how profoundly relevant this feels right now with all of the anti queer censorship we're seeing with media

being genderqueer in such a binary world can be so painful and this weird little book felt like it was making space for me even if it might not have been. idk.

i've always felt so... complicated about being like "i'm not binary trans masc but i DO feel like i'm a faggot" and this felt very affirming to that, it let my gender feel uncomplicated for a moment.

reading this and being like "ah yes, this is my gender, regardless of how i dress or present or whatever. faggot gender has always been the gender i am most aligned with"

i wish i would have read this like 13 years ago but also i'm so glad i read it now
