Always nice to see people experience consequences commensurate with their actions
Last year, the owner of a sawmill in North Carolina voted for Trump. This year, he’s closed down his mill and blames the squeeze from Trump’s tariffs. On the Big Take podcast, Bloomberg economics reporter Shawn Donnan visits the “Old North State” to understand the ripple effect of tariffs

1/ Egalitarianism should begin at home. I link to this article by @bencasselman.bsky.social in light of the communications between Larry Summers and Jeffrey Epstein that have just been released. The released emails and the fact of friendship are vile.

Unrelated, but my most vivid memory of Sesame Place is my younger daughter taking a dump in her swim diaper and then casually emptying the contents of the diaper into the pool. That caused a bit of a scene
We’re out at Sesame Place, and watching the Fast Pass people jump in line gave me an idea. If they’re going to allow people to purchase fast passes, instead of a priority line, they should have to get in the front of the regular line and push everyone back. Make it what it really is.

No one has contributed more to the militant political culture that provides fertile ground for violence than the leaders of the Right - relentlessly propagating the idea that “the Left” is evil, is destroying the nation, and must be stopped by whatever means. That was also Kirk’s project.
