I get meaning of this message, and hope that I would have this feeling about any work in my life (caring for a sick child comes to mind) including my writing. However I couldn’t help thinking that this sounds like something a man would say regarding just about anything. And I am jealous.

Same in Canada. Instead of strengthening our system they underfund it so they can say private would be better. 😡

First, the existing pipelines are operating BELOW capacity - there is NO NEED for another pipeline. Second, the waters of northern BC are so dangerous that a tanker catastrophe is guaranteed. Third, Indigenous people and the gov of BC say NO. Fourth, NO CORPORATION is coming forward with support

One the 4th year international students just said to me that she is astounded that her peers would “pay so much money not to think.” She avoids it because she is appreciating learning how to think and write. #Ontario #AI

Admin are continually pressuring us to make the course "more accessible," by which they mean "devastatingly easy to complete," but it's not about access. Many students refuse to read or write in any capacity that isn't tech-aided, no matter how simple the assignment, no matter how process-based.

At this point, our intro comp/first-year English course has been so heavily revised, it no longer includes a novel, or "extended reading" of any kind, no "specialized" or "historical" reading, mostly in-class assignments, no research essay...and we are still seeing a 40-50% rate of AI misconduct.

And I swear, once again, this is not dunking on kids. We are seeing this at all levels--even grad students. AI + social media has had a profound impact on how we think and process our world, and we can't stop to reflect on it, because billionaires keep hurling addictive tech at us.

Mine are watching-a lot of reality shows and apparently now Stranger Things. Reading??? No!
