One interesting thing about this is it doesn't amount to a strategy at all.
Lots of people on here asking what can possibly be Labour’s strategy at the moment. So here is what key strategists are telling MPs who are saying the same…

(don’t shout at me if you disagree, take it up with them!)

The point though is surely less about how Musk's behaviour informs British opinion, and more about how it impacts British politics - the imprint it leaves on our institutions.
You've got to hand it to Elon Musk - getting 71% of British people to agree on anything is impressive

Even with all the caveats about polling this far out. This is a sea change in UK opinion in favour of the far right.

Labour response so far absolutely dreadful. Give the people hope and change! It's what they want!
In our first @moreincommonuk.bsky.social voting intention of 2025, Labour & Tories remain at 26%. Reform is at 22% - the highest figure we’ve recorded for them

🌳CON 26% (nc)
🌹LAB 26% (nc)
➡️ REF UK 22% (+3)
🔶 LIB DEM 12% ( -1)
🌍 GREEN 7% (-1)
🟡 SNP 3% (nc)

Sat down with @brunoleipold.com to discuss his book "Citizen Marx". We talked about the influence of Republicanism in Marx's thought, and why the left must take the lead in the conversation on freedom—rather than leaving it to conservatives and liberals. Don't miss it! jacobin.com/2024/12/marx...

Out of curiosity, am reading a bit about the market for farmland. This briefing is from January.

"Meanwhile, non-farmer buyers – who are a mix of private and institutional investors and lifestyle buyers – accounted for 56% of sales"

Agricultural land values in England reached a new record in 2023
Q4 2023 edition of Strutt & Parker’s English Estates & Farmland Market Review which shows that non-farmers bought more farms than farmers in 2023.

The Farmer's Protest today was very strange, a lot of very red-faced men in tweed, being addressed by millionaires.

I'm not sure it will convince many of the need for them to retain a huge inheritance tax break.

Good thread on IHT reforms
There's a lot of anger about reforms to how landowners are taxed
This is ultimately about raising money in a fair way to invest in our broken public services
