Can I even be a good fiction writer if all I’ve read for the last few years are academic journals?

I use thumbs up all the time. Y’know, because I like or agree with a comment or post.
But I heard recently that it’s passive aggressive…is this true?

Have I been passively aggressing on people this whole time?

I get super emotional when killing off a character. It’s like I know them personally. Yes, even the bad ones - I’m like “but if they’d had more time, they could have turned it around!”
