It was such a genuine pleasure attending the "Fonda Lee and honouring the philosophy of martial arts in urban fantasy" conversation at #Festival42 AND meeting @fondalee.bsky.social in real life during her book signing today. 😍😍

"You might still be waiting for your jetpacks. I'm still waiting for my pregnant men."

Delightful article by @annaleen.bsky.social in the New Scientist this week.

Shout-out to the @libbyapp.com magazine rack and my public library for providing access.

Just when I thought public libraries couldn't get any better. I somehow just noticed that @libbyapp.com has a magazine rack and now I can finally read @newscientist.com‬ online without paying for a subscription. 🤓

I got the original publication in Spanish so sorry if there's a language barrier but here you can see a couple examples. The book has pages of just text and also many pages with photos, graphics, blueprints, maps, and sketches.

I've had a Pixel 7a for about 1.5 years. The battery recently started having issues. Over the weekend I found the back had cracked open because the battery had swollen. Quite scary! Google is offering cash, which I'll gladly take, but I just want a safe and durable phone. 🙃

Just seeing the autism news out of the US... Coincidentally I bought this book and read the first chapter earlier today. Link to publisher's site with paperback and ebook available, for anyone interested:

I like when buildings under renovation have a custom-made cover, to match how the exterior normally looks underneath

Aww Tika and Vero look so sweet. Mine's not a guide dog, although she's awfully good at leading me to the closest pet shop if I let her choose the route for our walks. 😂 Her name is Hope! 🤍

#booksky I love y'all but I'm seeing an awful lot of images of book covers with no alt text. Can we all get the reminder turned on in our settings to ensure #accessibility for our blind and vision impaired pals please? 🙏

Watching the Sorteo de Navidad programme (Christmas Lottery) this morning, one of my [numerous] favourite traditions in Spain. It always gets me properly into the Christmas holiday mood.🎄

Discovering the song Caspian Tiger (by Beirut) today led to a convo about the Caspian Sea actually being a lake. This led to looking at the Caspian Sea on Google Maps where I discovered 8 people have mentioned "false advertising" in their reviews re: the sea/lake thing and it really amused me.

Today I tried lino printing for the first time with DrawBCN in Barcelona! It was Christmas themed, with mince pies and all. Would definitely like to try lino again, but trying to think of what other things I could make, besides cards, where it would be useful to have many of the same print. 🤔

Fabulous weekend at my first #Festival42BCN hearing from Ted Chiang, T. Kingfisher, P. Djèlí Clark, and other fantasy/sci-fi authors. Special thanks to Prof Lisa Yaszek, one for her fascinating work on women in sci-fi, and two for convincing me to join Bluesky.
