For anyone curious about the chaotic dog mentioned in my bio... she says hello 🐼

I took a DELE (Spanish) exam last weekend and I don't know how to handle waiting 2-3 months for the results 🫠

It was such a genuine pleasure attending the "Fonda Lee and honouring the philosophy of martial arts in urban fantasy" conversation at #Festival42 AND meeting @fondalee.bsky.social in real life during her book signing today. 😍😍

Totally got into urban transport nerd mode today at the Smart City World Congress / Tomorrow Mobility in Barcelona. Heard about innovations that capture non-exhaust emissions from transport, clicked around urban planning data platforms, and even drove a couple of electric cargo scooters!

It took me practically 3 years after finishing my PhD to really be able and interested to read academic literature again.

But I've been slowly leafing through articles during the last several months and I'm happy to say that for the first time in a long time I have a new intellectual crush.

Dr. Poskett of Warwick Uni in the New Scientist's 25 Oct. issue:

"[the AI bubble popping] could force us to face the reality that using a vastly expensive tool like GPT-5 to write an email is like using a sledgehammer to crack a nut, and that the true cost of using it had previously been hidden..."

Just watched the film Beyond the Infinite Two Minutes and I'm completely in awe. It's just 70 minutes and was made by a small cast and crew. If you'd enjoy a clever, fun, and fairly cozy sci fi film involving time travel, give it a watch.

It is insidious how airlines deliberately create confusion and anxiety when you're buying a ticket, just to trick you into paying for extra stuff, and how none of the basic amenities are included in a regular ticket

"You might still be waiting for your jetpacks. I'm still waiting for my pregnant men."

Delightful article by @annaleen.bsky.social in the New Scientist this week.

Shout-out to the @libbyapp.com magazine rack and my public library for providing access.

“Over the past 20 years, Paris has undergone a major physical transformation, trading automotive arteries for bike lanes, adding green spaces and eliminating 50,000 parking spaces.

Part of the payoff has been invisible — in the air itself.”

Leadership, strategy, real action, common sense. #Paris
Paris said au revoir to cars. Air pollution maps reveal a dramatic change.
Air pollution fell substantially as the city restricted car traffic and made way for parks and bike lanes.

Been in a book club for many years. People sometimes ask for book club book recommendations, so I’m offering up this thread.

FYI Each month one person choses a theme and three book options and then we vote for one, so I’ll share the themes and options as well. (✅= book we chose to read) #booksky
