Indie iOS dev building apps like Perspective Intelligence | Working on on-device AI for Apple platforms

I'm curious if there are any #Austin #Tech enthusiasts out here on Bluesky. I've been living in Austin for over 20 years, and I would really love to be a part of local tech based events if things are going on. I've been to a few over the years, but it doesn't seem that there are as many these days.

CES 2026 should just be called RoboCES.
Atlas on stage. Hyundai says 30,000 robots by 2028. Nvidia powering humanoid AI.
The robots are here.

I made the thing I wish I had when learning to code.
Learn to Code Tuesdays. A place to learn and ask your questions. Starts today.

Unpopular opinion: You should at least learn the basics before you start vibe coding. You need to know when the AI is giving you garbage.
Am I wrong?

This is the take I agree with. The large scale LLMs are going to phase out in favor of local LLMs. Look at GPT OSS 20B and tell me it’s not good enough for 90% of use cases.

What do you think about Apple's foundation models? Only v1—don't discount them. @mikedoise.bsky.social and I built Perspective Intelligence powered by them: Maps, Contacts, Calendars, Reminders, Image Playground. https://apps.apple.com/us/app/perspective-intelligence/id6448894750

Not ChatGPT quality but fun to play with. We built Perspective Intelligence powered by them—tools for Maps, Reminders, Contacts, Calendar. https://apps.apple.com/us/app/perspective-intelligence/id6448894750
I added this toggle to disable “Apple Intelligence” than later commented out the Foundation Model code. The on device models really sucks. Maybe it’s better with tools. #iosdev #buildinpublic

I am an iOS developer building on-device AI with MLX and Apple Foundation Models. If you are working on similar projects let’s connect.

I keep hearing about the new Llama CPP UI and plan to try it in my on device AI workflow this week. For those who already tested it, what stood out to you. What worked well and what slowed you down. I am interested in real world results. #AI

I wrote about why disabled people need to be included in AI regulation. As someone who relies on AI every day, this is personal and important. I would love your thoughts.

Most task apps assume your brain is organized. Mine isn’t. I built a task manager for people who deal with overwhelm and ADHD.
