it's cool how i know actual humanoid robotics guys who are like "yeah the implementation of this stuff is probably a decade if not longer" and Elon's like, fuck it, a billion, send it
projecting a one billion unit/year production rate for the vaporware robot was it for me

I'm pivoting so hard on the humanoid robotics trend... it's not actually an absurd waste of capital and brainpower that will never live up to the relentless hype, I was wrong about that, it's a very real and serious field that our tech oligarchs should pour all of their money into
Joke of the day from Moscow: Russia tried to unveil its first humanoid AI robot, Aidol. Key word: tried. The robot collapsed during its debut, forcing organizers to cut the presentation short. Their rushed attempt to lift the prop only made things worse.

if you magically "solved robotics" and you used this to crank out a shitton of humanoids and nothing else i would be pretty sure your imagination was a serious problem

It seems like so many people on the right should be aligned with so many people on the left over the doomsday existential threat of AI and robotics in the hands of a handful of greedy oligarchs. But they have succeeded in pitting us against each other with culture war drivel.

As RFK Jr's HHS demonizes scientists, China moves to attract good scientists to drive innovation there.
The visa will help the country boost its competitiveness in areas that it deems important for its future, such as artificial intelligence (AI), robotics & new materials.

If the Trump admin had evidence that Cornell systemically discriminated against Jewish students in violation of Title VI, it wouldn't let the university off the hook for a $30m investment in research about AI, robotics, and farming. /1
