It's an interesting idea that needs to be explored

Jamelle totally "gets it"
i have said this before but if you are actually interested in influencing people beyond a narrow circle of too-online journalists you will be making direct to camera videos on tiktok, instagram and youtube. if you primarily post on text-based social media then you're just dicking around.

The idea that "DEI" has anything to do with the scientific #merit of a grant proposal is absurd and ridiculous but encapsulates in a "nushell" MAGA "meritocracy" as epitomized by RFK Jr, Hegseth, McMahon, Patel, Biondi, etc.
It’s one thing to not believe in the value of DEI, it’s another to shut down projects mid-award. It creates a chilling effect for ALL early-career researchers and a culture of fear instead of thinking about what is possible with science.

Garber didn't cave to Trump (yet) and for that I give him #Respect
December 15, 2025 at 9:48 PM
Garber has demonstrated leadership while building consensus. He reminds me of Pelosi in that respect.

I am unhappy with a lot of the things he has done but that's just me.

We will greatly miss Rob and Michelle
Rob Reiner, who was found stabbed to death in his Los Angeles home on Sunday along with his wife, was a hands-on activist and donor to the Democratic Party. His deep understanding of politics set him apart from other celebrities.
Democrats Celebrate Rob Reiner as a Hands-On Political Activist
The Hollywood star was an unusually hands-on activist and donor, whose deep understanding of politics set him apart from other celebrities.

I think I am more "sympathetic" to "Moderate Matt" than most "democratic socialists" on Bluesky he's a #Contrarian

Yes I think "inflation target" should be 2.5% but what do I know?
December 15, 2025 at 9:29 PM
I guess one can argue that the lack of "fiscal discipline" is causing inflation to be 2.5-3% instead of 2% #Good
December 15, 2025 at 9:29 PM
Cmon Matt, Chris is rite the pandemic caused the spike in inflation.
The foundation of neoliberal political economy is that you should actually care about efficiency, affordability, and fiscal discipline — it’s the bipartisan decision to abandon that which has landed us here.

How crypto entrepreneur Bill Zanker helped Trump and Melania launch memecoins; as of December 10, $TRUMP was down 92% since its peak and $MELANIA was down 99% (Bloomberg)

We had something called "encyclopedias" that existed in "libraries"

Ethan "gets it"
I have found GPT-5.2 Thinking to be a surprisingly deep second-opinion/fact checker. I gave it a dense paragraph with a few correct claims, a couple errors that required research to find, and some things that needed interpretation

It found and gently corrected all the problems based on research.

Dean and George totally "get it"
How would people like Duffy, Hegseth, and RFK Jr. ever get job?
December 15, 2025 at 8:39 PM
If you are an #Expert and you are not using ChatGPT and Gemini to refine and expand your #Expertise then you are doing it wrong.
I’m self-interested here but my guess is LLM’s will be better at helping generalists get up to speed on niches rather than helping industry/asset class specialists become better generalists.

Simply astonishing
December 15, 2025 at 8:33 PM
It astonishes today that not only do we have all of Hu-mankind's information #literally at our fingertips but we have incredible tools to interpret and explain that information "and yet" so many people *purposefully* and *intentionally* remain ignorant, because it "makes them feel good"
December 15, 2025 at 8:33 PM
What a lot of you (many/most/all) who didn't grow up in 60s and 70s don't understand is how hard it was to acquire information back in those days which was of course a feature not a bug to Trump and the Trumper MAGA crowd.

The most famous line is turning it up to 11 but there are so many other great lines and scenes

Those of you were not alive at the time have no idea how #Cool and #Funny we thought spinal tap was it quickly grew to be a "cult" favorite
December 15, 2025 at 8:22 PM
I thought of Rob Reiner as an actor and so when he started directing I was surprised but "right out of the box" he directed Spinal Tap

I don't understand why people use "Claude" as a general purpose Chatbot when ChatGPT and Gemini are significantly better. Claude is good at coding and agents.
December 15, 2025 at 8:20 PM
I always get the #Take of #Both ChatGPT and Gemini on any important Question
The stock of a company I don’t have a great granular understanding of was down a lot this morning, and I started asking Claude (Opus 4.5) questions about it and found the back and forth surprisingly good. Someone who covers the stock would be better, but it was pretty good and fast generalist info.

Rob Reiner played "Meathead" a #Liberal college graduate and constant foil of "Archie" and no I didn't "identify" with "Meathead"
