In the seven months since June 1, 2024, LA received a total 0.03” of rain.

To put that in perspective — that’s about 1% of what the driest city in America gets per year (Yuma, AZ).

Yet, network media ignored climate change in coverage of California wildfires. www.mesoscalenews.com/p/network-me...
Network media ignored climate change in coverage of California wildfires
On the first day of meaningful national news coverage of wildfires raging in California, each major network nightly news special —CBS, NBC, and ABC —dedicated 4-6 minutes of coverage to the disaster.

Beverly Hills currently sits between two active wildfires in California and could be at risk for its own in the very near future.

Having said that, it is not *currently* burning and certainly has not been "decimated."

ABC, NBC & CBS dedicated about 16 minutes of airtime last night to the California wildfires without once mentioning climate change.

Since the news failed do it's job, here's a short summary of the role of climate change and wildfire risk:

A reminder that Los Angeles had its hottest summer in history last year. Southern California has received just 2% of "normal" rainfall during the current "rainy" season.

These fires are a direct result of a warming & drying atmosphere caused by burning fossil fuels.

We are in a climate emergency.
