Here's the exciting part: our analysis reveals an #empirical signal that when the #private sector #invests in #climate #adaptation, #regional #economic #revenues grow (albeit inelastically). Building climate #resilience does not require sacrificing economic development.

Besides curious descriptive #statistics, we also present a #theoretical framework that connects #economic and #behavioral empirical research on #firms’ #climate #adaptation decisions.

A lack of #granular #economic #data obstructs understanding and facilitation of effective #climate action, especially with respect to #private #sector. We present a new dataset on #firms' investments in climate #adaptation, in five coastal regions in the Netherlands, China, Indonesia, and the USA.
