Online Behavioral Ads Fuel the Surveillance Industry—Here’s How
Each time you see a targeted ad, your personal information is exposed to thousands of advertisers and data brokers through a process called “real-time bidding” (RTB). This process does more than

On Epstein. AND again, with Putin.
Almost every person I know outside the US finds this obvious.
Everything I've learned in behavioral psychology, supports this. HIS behavior supports this ... DAILY!
Occam's Razor supports this.

You'd think "T-rex males unexpectedly eat their young" would be exactly the kind of surprise behavioral finding that would align really well with this idea that these are animals who might not dance for the tourists the way your want in your family friendly theme park.

The best therapist I ever had used cognitive behavioral therapy and the basis of his approach was
1) you cannot control feelings
2) you can control your behavior, including your conscious thoughts
3) you can learn to consciously identify cognitive distortions of your feelings *and not act on them*

"puppy girls have all these mental health problems" yes and so do regular dogs. you have to be patient and do some research on how to take care of it regardless of what kind of pet it is.
pets have behavioral issues because they've had bad owners, show them love and help them recover 💜

HCI (Human Computer Interaction), first foreshadowed by Ted Nelson as "fantics" and then formalized by Apple is effectively dead as a field of human-factors engineering.
Now HCI is just behavioral economics, with computers.

learning to program in the late 90s and early 00s, you’d inevitably run across classic works like Goto Considered Harmful and No Silver Bullet, even if you weren’t particularly bookish, and there was tons of discourse about HCI as well, all grounded in decades of research
i’m afraid that’s all gone

It's really interesting to me to see people run down cognitive behavioral therapy in the past 5 years or so and makes me suspect there's a bunch of therapists out there who are absolute ass at it, which is potentially true of any modality.

Tandy is very different than Vivien Leigh. Her Blanche presents as less fluttery, her behavioral armor more a spiky effervesence (with perhaps more of a hint of the schoolteacher). It's great. Also fun to hear Karl Malden, Kim Hunter and Brando often vary their iconic line readings from the movie.

The behavioral health needs in Colorado’s rural communities are often unmet due to isolated environments, financial challenges, and other factors. That's why I am excited to join the first ever Agricultural Behavioral Health Summit this week. www.morningagclips.com/inaugural-ag...

I used to be an animal trainer (using methods similar to what is commonly used in human behavioral applications). I even used to have my own dog training company.

This advice would never be given to girls because people wouldn't put up with them if they had behavioral issues
Also, girls/women are generally taught strategies on how to put up with and manage immature boys/men

I think the belief by the powerful that "people will put up with many things if you are excellent at math" is incredibly revealing in terms of understanding How We Got Here

1) The results of RECOVER-NEURO are in!
It tested:
- computerized cognitive training
- cognitive-behavioral rehabilitation
- transcranial direct current stimulation
but no intervention showed significant improvement compared to a control group that did video puzzles and games.

There's this form of behavioral engineering/coercion going on to use AI when you're not even trying to. Ex: Enterprise Google Slides replaced "Upload an Image", with "Generate an Image" (right?), requiring extra work +adaptation to sidestep the AI-as-default push. It drives me bonkers.

8 ) So this seems like a clear null result for these behavioral interventions.
Good that the researchers chose an active control group instead of a waiting list; otherwise, the trial might have found false positive results.

my therapist recommended i do cognitive behavioral therapy for insomnia
does anyone have experience with doing that? i’ve done CBT before but never for insomnia specifically - she said they offer it here so i wouldn’t need to go someplace else and that people have found it helpful i guess !!
