Did anyone on the production team pause to consider the narrative consequences of that? Did they think, "Hey! Wasn't a big part of the original debate here about whether a privileged white author was persistently centering herself and aggressively adopting a victim pose in response to criticism?" 3/

God, the whole article is so deeply dishonest. Clanchy's book was "suddenly derided" - no mention that the "sudden" trigger was Clanchy loudly demanding an obscure Goodreads review be taken down b/c of racist quotes she claimed were made up, prompting everyone to check and find out they were genuine

It's wild to me that Kate Clanchy felt like she could make a living being a keen tutor to and observer of other people and yet, she seems totally unprepared to grow as a human being. Who hasn't had their unconscious prejudices challenged over their career?

Glad I'm not the only one who hasn't forgotten about Kate Clanchy.

If she were teaching in Ontario she would have at the very least been suspended by the provincial regulatory body for teachers, for her harmful and racist writing.
