i am seeing so many authors across socials post that it's been a terrible month/week for sales, some saying it's their worst ever, others saying they might have to quit publishing if this keeps up. and, like, i get all the nuance. i do. i'm only saying it sucks indies are being hit hard. :(

I am literally begging for nuance and understanding in this area for authors. Indies have incredibly limited options and KU is exclusive and will ban authors from publishing if their books are found on other websites. For indie authors whose entire income comes from KU, they can't just leave.
I blocked someone this morning who had the gall to post on my feed to say authors who choose to publish on Amazon alone are on their own FAFO journey. Which shows what immensely dense mf's are out there who have absolutely no clue what being a KU author means. Some days, I can't take the ignorance.

The only people a boycott of KU is going to hurt are the authors. KU's income makes up a TINY bit of Amazon's income (and Bezos only owns like 8% of the company). Yes, the payouts suck. But for ppl like me, it's how I pay my bills and feed my family.
