I'm once again begging media outlets and online posters to STOP MAKING US LOOK AT THAT AWFUL MAN'S UGLY FACE, but this time it applies to three different awful men at once

I can't believe I'm saying this, but some people running for office really should just start a podcast or something. Political positions should be reserved for masochists who know what they're talking about.

My tooth is fixed. Feels like I should get a medal or something for getting this taken care of.
I had a tooth filling fall out and this seems like an insurmountable hurdle right now

I don't know if Doug Jones will win, but he's one of the few potential candidates with the resources to conduct actual polling and so I hope this means that the Republicans are cooked in 2026.
Former U.S. Sen. Doug Jones appears to be headed for another political showdown against current Sen. Tommy Tuberville, this time for the governor’s office.

I'm not cooking Thanksgiving dinner, but I ordered a smoked turkey just to like, eat with my hands.

I've been watching Real Housewives of Atlanta and there's an episode where NeNe Leakes says "Stop saying that where people can hear you" about a castmate's claims and I really think people need to be told that more often.

The New York Times quickly sending out Douthat to argue that Mamdani’s victory doesn’t really matter is so predictable it borders on self-parody.

Remember, folks: Every time the Right wins an election, it’s an undeniable expression of the will of the people. If a lefty wins, it’s just a blip.

LOCAL ELECTION RESULT:

Let me congratulate @zysaidso.bsky.social for her election to the Charlottesville School Board.

For those wondering: Zyahna Bryant was a student organizer who led the successful fight in removing two confederate statues from downtown Charlottesville.

Sometimes people are like “why don’t Democrats talk about X” and maybe they are and there are no platforms left to talk about it on.

I've been spending a lot of time trying to figure out how to make Thanksgiving & Christmas fun with a toddler, a baby, and no family in town. So far, I've only decided that I cannot cook a thing.

I am 100% in this camp as well. I do not want to know.
I think one thing I’ve done that has really benefited my mental health is refuse to learn anything about the numbers regarding my writing work. I mean, I know what I’m worth being paid, but every number I know about how many of anything has sold or been viewed, I’ve learned against my will.

i think if you ride public transit enough you learn that most weird behavior is not dangerous, and conversely i think driving a car teaches you that everyone is trying to kill you at all times

Lora is a lovely and wonderful person who would never say this so I'll say it for her: these claims are utter bullshit and based on nothing, they are marketing, almost every AI job replacement article is bullshit
so many companies say they are replacing people - laying them off - with automated systems, AI. but there has been no real auditing or regulatory approach to vetting such claims. i am deeply skeptical. think a lotta the cuts are just due to failures to sell or cut costs & prior over hiring.

A lot of hot takes about protests reveal that people generally have poor knowledge of the Civil Rights Movement. It wasn't as though a single protest enabled change. I think most importantly, protest was a skill that was taught, which was how you got iconic moments like Rosa Parks on the bus.
People fought for nearly a century for their constitutional rights in Jim Crow Alabama, when there was little to no hope that they would see the end of apartheid. If nothing else, battling for principle creates a foundation and an example for others to follow.

I continue to be confused why businesses (especially newspapers) continue to alienate their core base. Like, is trump really going to give you that much money??? What is the plan here??????
