I've joked for years that all my knitting was just apocalypse survival skill preparation but uh... feeling pretty glad I can make a lot of my own clothes and have a dresser full of yarn right about now.

When I did Legal Aid work, we dreamed about "civil Gideon" -- representation for indigent folks in civil as well as in criminal cases. These days, I just want to know that the promise of Gideon v. Wainwright is being kept in criminal matters. Public defenders, you are seen and valued and needed. ⚖️
It’s the 62nd anniversary of Gideon v. Wainwright, a case in which SCOTUS ruled that states must provide legal counsel to indigent defendants.
To all public defenders: Thank you for your important, grueling, and often thankless work to protect the rights of the accused.
