ever since I learned about three-cueing I've developed infinitely more patience for replies on social media. mfers literally do not know how to read. people are walking around conjuring random meanings into words they don't know, and they don't know a lot of words. it's crazy

I've been knitting several different versions of the same hat pattern this week because I'm working on a project about gauge, yarn construction, and fiber content. Bonus: at the end, I'll have lots of cozy hats!

I am fascinated by how different people sort the same item according to how they perceive it. Like, I put the hand-held immersion blender in the drawer with small things like the citrus juicer and zested. Mr. Rad puts it in the cupboard with the larger blenders. Neither is technically wrong.
As stressed as cataloguing makes me, I find it fascinating how true it is that everyone catalogues differently. It's really more an art than a science. Take Marie Kondo’s new book Letter from Japan:

Update: just saw a car drive by with a license plate that said PBMSLVD, and I feel like that’s a sign.
I was a very brave and big girl and went to an appointment this morning that made me a little nervous, so now I am rewarding myself with a mocha and a savory crepe. If you turn a scary thing into a fun little outing, it helps!

I've been feeling experimental lately with my sock knitting, and I'd love to try out some less-common sock heel constructions. Do you have one you love that isn't the FLK, boomerang/GSR, or afterthought heel?

Sometimes, it's fun to give old knits a little photo shoot and remember what I loved about them in the first place. These are the Amicus Socks, named for some very special friends who helped me get through a rough time.

We had a large family gathering over the weekend, and without even realizing it, I knit an entire sock. What a fun surprise! Alas, the sock is also a surprise, so here's a photo of some other socks instead.
