You can feel the snow is coming. Soon I'll be walking with ice cleats on my boots, to deal with the slippery parts of the trail.

Today I watched for 30 minutes while 5 bald eagles attempted to snatch the same hapless duck off the #Yukon River.

Expect to see more posts & news of people's life plans changing around illness, in an unmitigated, #OngoingPandemic that we know causes immune dysregulation, & opens the door to a variety of poor health outcomes -

The trumpeter swans & the tundra swans left yesterday. And today, it was unusually windstill on the bluffs - nothing but ducks, listless ravens, chickadees, & a pair of whiskey jacks (Canada jays).

All waiting for winter in the #Yukon.

SARS‑CoV‑2 destroyed our trust in science.

COVID destroyed our immune systems.

Public health destroyed our relationships.

And the pandemic threatens to destroy democracy.

In spite of 2 in our family having lived with #LongCOVID since 2020, we still manage Halloween, albeit VERY carefully. Because 5 stitches is not the worst that can happen -

Ravens up on the clay bluffs beside the #Yukon River. Soon the last remaining trumpeter swans will head south, & all this will be covered in snow & ice -

Apologies for a bad phone pic of this beautiful coyote I met on my walk yesterday, whose intentions were never quite clear.

We observed each other for a long time.

I was decluttering the crawlspace yesterday when I came across these publications. In the 1990s the epicentre of the #AIDS epidemic in South Africa was in my home province of KwaZulu-Natal. I was the photojournalist & cartoonist for the publication -

That's why I am concerned by these posts by a neuropathologist (using an alias), that conflates some anti-social behaviour with brain damage caused by #LongCOVID.

It's a slippery slope.

Yes, #COVID can slow cognitive processing, but it won't cause a nice person to put on a #BlackShirt.
