No surprise: I also believe that it’s a little evil that funerals are expensive, and yet we all have to die, have to have our remains handled in a specific, socially prescribed way, and we (hopefully - love to you all) have people in our lives who will grieve and have to bear that on top of it all.

In an ideal world, people should not have to struggle with the idea of not getting their loved ones’ ashes back. It’s not something you can just… go back for when you’re in a better place financially and no one really knows when it’ll be the day.

Times are tough, man.

I really want to get Dr. Nathan Liu and his colleague Aeryn together but I’m honestly not sure if that’s even a thing or if they’re just close. Time will tell!

Sara has her husband, Alex, and potentially ends up as part of a four person polycule? I’m still cooking that part of the story.

And then there are some background marriages like Chana, my security officer in the first story. She’s got a husband and a kid. She’s more married to her work, though.

Errick’s parents play a large part in a couple of early stories, and even though he’s a dysfunctional mass of complexes, his parents are perfectly happily in love with each other.

Paul’s got happily married parents. So does Orvin.

Elliot’s bio parents were happily married. Her uncle Jacob adopts her when she winds up orphaned(ish) and he marries Herratt, the base’s communications officer.

They’re kind of adorable and I need to draw them more.

Elliot’s only 22. That girl needs to grow up first! But I could see her marrying Orvin one day. I have future headcanons about those two on Earth in a poly relationship with my Irish space cadet, Lucy. 💙

Paul would marry Errick in a heartbeat if Errick would just -settle-, but that’s complicated.

In Alpha Base? Heinrich: no. He’s canonically aro and ace, completely uninterested and unsuited for romantic relationships.
