1) It could get sued out of existence. Some corporation like Nintendo or Disney is gonna get pissed and pursue legal action eventually, and everyone knows that if you get on the wrong side of the plumber or the mouse, you're gonna be pushing up daisies.

The single most effective way to get somebody into your special interest is to show them a character that they will like. Whether that means they are attracted to the character because they are hot or want merch of cute goober thingy or they relate to character doesn't matter. Show them characters.
