I think at some point nearly everyone wants to be famous because we see famous people doing fabulous things with fabulous people in fabulous locations. We don't see them not being able to go to the grocery store or being stalked or otherwise treated like a commodity. When we realize that, oof, no.
When I was little I wanted to be famous. Now I understand anonymity for the gift of privacy —and vanishing commodity—that it is.
