For those of you in Public Health and Infectious Disease communities who are offended by this, let's turn that around:

If bad engineering led to a plane falling out of the sky or a bridge collapsing or the electrocution of kids in a daycare, I'd call that out, too.

Address failure. Directly.

You had one job.

Just maintain the #measles status that your predecessors had established.

But you couldn't even do that.

This is what failure looks like.

It's time Public Health & the Infectious Disease communities to grow up and accept that they need help from experts outside their community.

A young Tory MP's name gets mentioned as someone ready to cross the floor. He goes to ground and then suddenly announces he is stepping down.

We have to trust our PM Mark Carney!
Federal Budget's Electrification Plan is a Winner

My first quick read Monday was negative. Further reading and some interviews convinced me I was wrong.

The Climate Competitiveness Strategy is really good.

Incredible moving speech by 20 year old Violet Affleck at the UN today.

Violet listed the harms of infection, pleaded for people to do more to protect children from COVID infections and advocated for masks and for clean filtered indoor air for everyone.
“We are told by leaders that we are the future. But when it comes to the ongoing pandemic, our present is being stolen right in front of our eyes.”

Incredible speech by Violet Affleck who warned about the ongoing dangers of COVID & Long Covid, & advocated for masks and clean air at the UN today!

Take heart, friends: There's actually a hugely positive story out there about wind and solar energy -- and it's one the North American fossil fuel industry and conservative politicians in its thrall can't do anything to stop.

Solar and wind are conservative punching bags. They're also winning the fight
Conservative politicians in North America love pretending that wind and solar can't possibly compete with fossil fuels. They might want to pay closer attention to what's happening in the rest of the w...

Tell the federal government that it's time to pass strong methane regulations. Protect our climate, our health, and our future.

Canada must lead the global fight against methane pollution - CAPE
Tell the Carney government: move now to pass strong methane regulations. Methane is a major greenhouse gas pollutant that traps more than 80 times more heat than carbon dioxide over 20 years.

A methane (natural gas) pipeline is bad enough. The economics don't work. But an oil pipeline is worse. There will be ZERO demand for oil exports by the time a new port on Hudson Bay is built (involving massive public $$$). Let's not even mention the impossibility of cleaning up oil spills up there.
