I love the blatant arrogance on display in this whole DoD group chat fiasco. This group of upward failures have so obviously never faced consequences in their fucking lives that the concept of OPSEC doesn't dissuade them from using their preferred messaging app cause a SCIF is inconvenient

Rep. Lisa McClain on CNN next to a ticker showing the stock market tanking for the third day this week: "It is going to take some unconventional methods to get us out of the mess we've been in the past four years with the EV mandates, with unfair trade. This shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone."

Friend in the armed forces just told me a coworker is getting separated due to gender dysphoria. Not being out as trans, just talking to a therapist at some point about it

LUTNICK: Really? All your stuff? What a trouble maker!
Lutnick on Zelenskyy: "You gotta say, 'We love America, We appreciate America' ... Instead he said, 'I want $300b in reparations from Russia. I want them off my land. I want all the land.' Really! All the land ... it's just way too far. That's not a peacemaker. That's a troublemaker."

Lemme share something with you. A lot of semi-Trumpy types are saying Zelensky blew it. All he had to do was show up, shake hands, say Trump is great and sign the docs. He couldn't do that. But there are also people in DC who are not Trumpy who are saying the same thing. Now, big picture this ...

So much discourse about the econ blackout today. The posts to get the word out seemed to have worked, the problem is they might create a false expectation that it will do anything on its own. The strength of big actions like this is being able to say "and I'll do it again" afterwards. Follow through

Every Democrat who is in DC returned in time to vote against the bill (the lone NV is Rep. Grijalva, who is fighting cancer). The vote shenanigans did not make the difference in the end, Dems made sure they all got to vote.

I'd be a lot more sympathetic for the team of software interns Elon has screwing with Federal databases, if they were also rigging the offices up like Kevin prepping for the Wet Bandits.

I think there's a flaw in saying DEI can't actually combat racism. Psychology is funny. When you have people work together toward common goals, it tends to heal division and create shared identity and solidarity, even if the initial attitudes are negative. Putting people in a big T-shirt together.

I think it's missed in Dem focus group based planning that when you abandon the most vulnerable to "pick your fights", you're abandoning the people with the biggest incentive to fight, work, and advocate for you. They may be "small" demographically but they show up more consistently and yell louder
February 6, 2025 at 3:53 PM
The feed has deemed today "Discuss why abandoning DEI is kinda dumb" day. Yeah it feels like a bunch of intellectual types want to conflate corporate DEIA initiatives not coming from a place of genuine concern for equality, with the current gutting of MILITARY AND GOVT POLICY

I'm often reminded of the South Park episode when the AARP launches a hostile takeover of the United States through their ability to wake up before everyone else. They're ultimately thwarted by the boys, who get up around the same time for school, locking the breakfast buffet doors.

the major error was believing decadence was about lifestyle issues as opposed to personal responsibility. a decadent society isn't a place where people party too much, its a place where no one tries to stop a trump like figure until its too late
