I wonder what the decision-making process was behind putting a purchase cost on Marathon. Surely Bungie has actual numbers on how much higher the player count is on a free game. Does it feel that important to be "premium?" You've got to assume that's it, right? "Our games are premium." So stupid

It is hard to imagine a structure that more thoroughly defeats the very spirit of storytelling than the video game pick-your-heroine dating menu. A pile of slim will-they-won't-theys where, canonically, no one has ever made progress at all, and payoffs are quarantined in Schrodinger's box.

Trails of Cold Steel 4 NPC conversations are 85% people talking about sociopolitical situations, 10% impeccable character work, and 4% women talking about yaoi. The last percent is like queerbaiting, but instead of gay people they're baiting the kind of person who picks Team Jacob.

@kriswolfhe.art Thanks for recommending Trails on your podcast. I just beat Cold Steel 3 and this might be the most intelligently planned/written series of bravely noninnovative game stories I've ever played. Kinda like if the Pokemon movies were all about as good as Jurassic Park 1. 10/10 shit

I have my problems with parts of this game. I don't like a lot of the... costuming choices. Musse swings from very grating to one of my favorite characters on a line-to-line basis. But the thing is that Trails of Cold Steel 3 is still Just That Good. Nobody is doing it like this
