I liked the optimism of Station Eleven, and how it went against all the tropes of horrible dystopias, because there was always a future for everyone in the book. The Road was relentlessly brutal, even the glimmer of hope at the end felt like it was sure to be flushed away as soon as I closed it.

There was an interview with Ozzy Osbourne in Rolling Stone about 25 years ago where Ozzy mentioned that Johnny Rotten had told him that he hated the Beatles. Ozzy’s response was “How can you not like the Beatles? That’s like saying you don’t like air.”
